COUPLES: Three Day Wedding Event in Negril Jamaica

After a day in the sun on 7-mile beach at Kuyaba Hotel in Negril, Jamaica it was time for a little work.  I hadn’t met the bride & groom prior to them hiring me for the wedding and we figured a casual little portrait session was the best way to get to know each other a little before the big day arrived.

We wandered up the beach finding fun spots for photos and tried not to get to sweaty from the humidity.  Toni & Matt were a lot of fun and had no trouble getting into the shoot. We ended at Alfred’s Ocean Palace… just a dive of a beach bar, but one I remember with fond memories from a great night of reggae there a few years prior.

The Wedding Day

The Rockhouse Resort & Spa in Negril, Jamaica, is one of those places that makes you stop and look around, like, wow, this is where we are? The cliffs drop right into the turquoise ocean, the wind smells like salt and gardening, and the thatched roofs just seem to belong in the sky. You can almost hear the echoes of the old movies filmed here, the musicians, the artists, the travelers who got lost wandering these paths decades ago. It’s a place that feels very alive without trying too hard.

Tony and Matt picked Rockhouse for their wedding, and it was exactly them; relaxed, full of laughs, and knowing how to throw a good party with just their closest family and friends.

And then it rained. Oops.

But honestly, it didn’t ruin anything. It made the skies moody, the colors deep, and every look, hug, and laugh felt even more real. No sun, no problem. By the end, the day wasn’t about weather at all, it was about people being themselves, the kind of moments you remember for a lifetime, and the little surprises that make a day worth traveling all that distance for.

The next day, the sun came out just in time for a swim and the start of the after-wedding brunch. It was a true joy.
